LOS 400 MEJORES DISCOS DE LA HISTORIA DE LA MÚSICA EN INGLES

Esta es una recopilación de los mejores discos que ha dado la música pop durante el siglo XX. Para hacer esta lista se ha usado los siguientes criterios:

1. Los discos han sido grabados en estudio y editados como tales. Los estilos escogidos han sido rock, pop y soul, dejando fuera algunos como el country o el blues.

2. No he elegido ningún disco de grandes éxitos ni grabados en vivo.

3. Los discos han sido elegidos a partir de los años 50 -cuando empeza- ron a editarse en formato LP- hasta el año 1990. Los discos de hace menos de 10 años no han sido tenidos en cuenta, creo que se necesitan por lo menos 10 años para convertirse en clásico.

Para la lista hemos usado las siguientes fuentes (el número aparece tal como está en la lista):

1. El libro que nos ha servido de base es: "Los 1000 mejores discos de la música popular" de José Ramón Pardo, que califica con un máximo de 5 estrellas.

2. La base de datos en Internet "All Music Guide" que contiene una calificación de prácticamente todo lo editado. (Máximo de 5 estrellas).

3. La base de datos de la revista "Rolling Stone" que es muy amplia y que también califica con un máximo de 5 estrellas.

4. La base de datos de la revista "Q" que aunque no es tan amplia si nos sirve como referencia importante.

Estas cuatro fuentes anteriores las podemos considerar como fuentes de los críticos musicales.

5. Mi propia calificación de los discos.

6. La calificación de los lectores de la revista "Rolling Stone".

7. La calificación de los visitantes de la página "Music 365" que califican los 2000 discos seleccionados por la revista y en la que están casi todos los mejores.-Esta página desapareció en el 2001.

8. La calificación de los visitantes de la página "Amazon.com".

Estas fuentes podemos considerarlas como las del público.

Hemos usado para completar la lista, el puesto obtenido por los discos en algunas listas que se han publicado coincidiendo en el final del siglo. Son las siguientes:

9. La lista de la revista "Mojo" sobre los 100 mejores discos de la historia.

10. La lista de la cadena de televisión "VH1" también sobre los 100 mejores discos.

11. La lista de la revista "Q" sobre los 100 mejores discos elaborada por sus lectores en 1997.

12. La lista de la página Web "Plásticos y Decibelios" sobre los 80 mejores discos.

Usando estos datos (y algunos más que iremos añadiendo) hemos hecho una primera selección de discos con los siguientes criterios: discos de más de 4,5 de media según la crítica, de más de 4 según el público y que aparezca al menos en una de las cuatro listas. Iremos añadiéndolos poco a poco. Estos son los primeros:

Estos son los cuatro discos que se disputan el número uno: todos tienen la unanimidad de la crítica, puntuaciones muy altas del público y aparecen en las cuatro listas de los mejores discos, en puestos muy altos (en rojo aparecen los puestos del Top Diez). Después de aplicarle a la tabla una pequeña operación matemática, saldrá una lista. A continuación, los discos que siguen son:
